Course description:
DISCOVERING THE CHANNEL ISLANDS

Explore the diverse kelp forests, rocky reefs, and island ecosystems of the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary (CINMS) and National Park. This course will include information on why the Channel Islands and surrounding waters are unique and special. Participants will learn to identify common marine mammals and seabirds, and find out about volunteer opportunities with the sanctuary and park. The course also offers information on the rich maritime heritage resources of the region, and current research efforts goin on in the Channel Islands. Let talented staff of the sanctuary and park unveil the wonders of this important marine treasure that is in your own backyard.
